About Us
Our Story
At Mak and Fong, our team of accounting professionals are here to deliver advice that is tailored for you. Not only are we accountants, but we are entrepreneurs ourselves. We understand firsthand how hard it is to start a business, grow it and plan for your business and family's future.
We started as two friends growing up together in Richmond, BC. We lost touch after university, but soon reunited when we ran into each other in the elevator while working in the same office building in downtown Vancouver. As we both became new parents, we struggled to find a fulfilling career while having the flexibility to be there for our families. At the same time, we learned from our friends with small businesses that they are not getting the time, attention and care by their accountants. Having worked in well-known accounting firms like PwC and Manning Elliott, we knew our friends deserved better advice. That's when we decided to join forces to be partners in our own accounting practice.
In 2018, we reached a new milestone in our journey when we acquired the practice of Diana Mau when she retired. Ms. Mau is a well-respected finance professional in the Chinese community in Vancouver, as she built her practice during the wave of immigration in the 1980s-90s. She was a pioneer, who carved out a path for herself while raising her two young daughters.
Fast forward to today, we have come full circle. We are now supporting the current wave of immigrants leaving Hong Kong and we are forging our own path as we support our community as trusted professionals while living in this beautify city we call home.
Our clients are our top priority. With our combined 40+ years experience in professional services, Katie and Fonny are committed towards building long-lasting and meaningful relationships with you, built on the values of hard work and trust.
We look forward to meeting you and supporting you on your own journey.
